The college placement process is a critical part of every family’s decision.
I have spent almost 20 years getting to know coaches across the US, and to learn about the programs and academics that different colleges offer. I can offer my experience and mentorship to student-athletes while they remain in their own family environments.
Preferred College Advising has a process that works and achieves results. We assist in forming the game plan critical to every student-athlete’s development, from competition strategy to communication skills. We make players better –and better at believing their own abilities and dreams.
COLLEGE ADVISING SERVICES
Our process begins with a comprehensive interview with the Interview with student-athlete and family to determine academic and athletic goals, student background, and strengths and weaknesses.
INTERVIEW COMPONENTS
ACADEMICS
For a thriving student-athlete the academic fit is just as important as the athletic component. We interview to determine what student-athlete wants to study and compare that to the strength of academic program at the proposed academic institutions.
We do a complete analysis of academic results to date including;
- SAT / ACT offerings
- Out of class activities
- Community service
- AP Classes / Honors Classes
- National rankings comparative to majors
ATHLETICS
The more I can get to know a player and understand his current ability and potential, the better we can form an overall plan of attack for improvement and college placement.
Athletics evaluation includes:
- Evaluation level of play including watching tournament competition
- Play 18 holes together
- Analyze strengths/weaknesses–what parts of the game need to improve (Mental, Physical, Course Management, Technique, Tournament Planning)
- What school choices fit in his/her profile?
DEVELOPMENTAL PLANNING/OUTREACH
Building a year+ plan with monthly milestones is critical to your student-athletes success. This plan includes tournaments, tutoring needs, SAT/ACT test prep, follow-ups with coaches and admissions staff.
